The unprecedented Burkinab\u00e8 doctrine is based on rejecting automatic external debt in favour of harnessing national resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Major projects are<\/strong> therefore covered directly by the State's public funds and by citizens' contributions through the \"Faso M\u00eabo\" programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This shift takes place<\/strong> within a continent-wide movement, as outlined by the African Development Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bitumen in Burkina Faso serving the Ouaga-Bobo motorway<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The symbol of this<\/strong> acceleration is the launch of the country's very first motorway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Designed to link Ouagadougou,<\/strong> the capital, to Bobo-Dioulasso, the country's second-largest city, this motorway corridor runs for 332 kilometres and on its own accounts for the bulk of Burkina Faso's bitumen needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A bitumen project in continuous production<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The project<\/strong>: the works are progressing at an intensive pace of continuous production, 24 hours a day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The design<\/strong>: the alignment adopts a 2\u00d72-lane configuration, expandable to 8 lanes, with generous 100-metre land reserves to prepare for future expansion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The funding<\/strong>: close to 200 billion CFA francs (over 350 million USD), fully guaranteed by the State.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The objective<\/strong>: to speed up the transport of goods to the main regional ports (Abidjan, Lom\u00e9, Cotonou) and put an end to the nation's logistical isolation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In parallel, heavy attention<\/strong> is being devoted to the cross-border national roads towards Mali and C\u00f4te d'Ivoire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Bobo-Dioulasso \u2013<\/strong> Banfora (RN7) section is having its structure reinforced over 84.7 km, for a sum of 63 billion CFA francs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>As a continuation, the<\/strong> paving of the RN11 (Banfora \u2013 Orodara) and the rehabilitation of the RN8 (Moami \u2013 Orodara), estimated at 32 billion FCFA, open up the main agricultural production areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The direct public management method: lower costs, greater autonomy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The genuinely innovative contribution<\/strong> of the Burkinab\u00e8 model lies in its way of operating: management taken on directly by the State itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>To avoid the margins<\/strong> of the major international construction firms and to make the most of public funds, the government has heavily equipped its national road-building apparatus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The nation has equipped itself with<\/strong> a remarkable sovereign fleet of 776 heavy earthmoving machines (graders, bulldozers, compactors).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This equipment is handed<\/strong> directly to the Military Engineering Corps as well as to intervention units distributed across the regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This approach allows<\/strong> earthworks and soil-stabilisation operations to be carried out at unbeatable rates, while also building the skills of a local workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Climate resilience: the historic inauguration of the H\u00e9r\u00e9dougou bridge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The upgrading of<\/strong> the road network goes hand in hand with an adaptation that has become unavoidable in the face of climate disruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Intense seasonal rains<\/strong> previously caused recurrent flooding, cutting off the vital artery of National Road 1 at the Mouhoun river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The solution came<\/strong> with the inauguration, on 20 June 2026, of the brand-new H\u00e9r\u00e9dougou bridge.
